Principles for Cultivating Our Safe Space
- Be aware and respectful of others’ feelings, thoughts and experiences. We all have something to contribute!
- Maintain a welcoming environment that allows other people to share openly.
- Slandering is not permitted. We should all be able to communicate effectively.
- Gossiping is not allowed. Keep a respectful environment.
- Come to the meetings with a positive attitude and be able to support one another.
- Be positive! This makes for a good working environment.
- It is okay for those who are not outspoken to work on voicing their perspectives more. Those who are outspoken can work on listening more to others’ opinions.
- Be professional. Be on time and responsible for your individual roles.
- Take pride in what we all do and what your overall group does.
- Respect and value other people’s work.
- Be on the same page with your group members. Let people take ownership of their work. Discuss any changes with each other.
- Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
- If you can’t make it at the last minute, send a text. It’s more effective.
- When you hear a bell ring, it’s time for the whole group to be addressed.
- Speak and act with purpose!
